Driving system with no concern for biological principles
This video shows you how pigs are handled just before stunning in most abattoirs in the world. Notice that this system needs excessive electric prodding. Video: Lotta Nordensten.
While you look at the video find three reasons why this would be considered a bad pre-slaughter handling system. Look at the suggested answer after you have watched the video.
The pig abattoir has been transformed from a low-capacity, low-technology sector to a technology-oriented, mechanized industry with high-capacity plants and a requirement for high productivity and quality. However, the handling of pigs prior to slaughter at most slaughter plants is still performed in almost the same manner as before. This method of handling is not appropriate for the high slaughter speeds required by the newer facilities.
