VION Food Group -antimicrobial growth promoters
Since 2006, antimicrobial growth promoters are not allowed in animal feed anymore. Currently, farmers use antibiotic medicine curatively (also in biological chain). This has disadvantages, according to the feed company, because this medicine has more residues than the antibiotic former additives in feed and have a larger resemblance to human antibiotic medicine leading to resistance problems. The feed company is subject also to IKB rules and demands from other chain actors, like retail.
